Cocoa Expos Team History |
|
There have been past Expos players that have gone on to a great deal of success in soccer. After time spent with the Expos, Richard Sharpe went on to play in Major League Soccer as did Mumbarike Chisoni who spent 2 years with the Expos and now plays with the L.A. Galaxy in Major League Soccer. English international Ricky Hill also spent time playing with the Expos as did Bryce Wegerle, the nephew of United States international Roy Wegerle. The Expos team gives young players the opportunity to showcase their talent in a competitive environment. Many Expos players have gone on to play for top Division I college teams. For the 2005 season the Expos have 2 previous Major League
Soccer players on their roster in Ivan McKinley and Pete Marino. Ivan McKinley
played 7 seasons in Major League Soccer, most recently with the New England
Revolution and Pete Marino played for the Columbus Crew and the Kansas City
Wizards.
The Cocoa Expos home games are played at the Cocoa Expo Sports Center and the Expos are coached by Gerry Queen. Coach Queen is a member of the Florida Olympic Development Program staff. Coach Queen’s previous coaching experience ranges from the Orlando Nighthawks of the USL Second Division and the Boca Raton Sabres of the D3 league. Coach Queen has also played professional soccer in Scotland, England and South Africa. |
