Ball control is very important. This drill will help improve your control and shooting. Find a wall or other hard surface. Start out 6 feet away, and using the inside of the foot first, kick the ball into the wall so the ball comes straight back to you, controlling the ball with the same part of the foot. Then, progress to striking the ball with the lace part of your shoe with your toe down, heal up and “ankle locked”. Progress farther and farther away from the wall. Remember: for the ball to stay low, keep your body over the ball. —Coach Queen has been a professional player and coach around the world. He signed his first professional contract when he was 16 years old in Scotland, and has played and coached in England, South Africa and America as well.— |
